Helping Those in Need

A recent report commissioned by the United Way, “The Bottom Line: Setting the Real Standard for Bay Area Working Families,” states that more than 22% of all households in Marin County do not earn enough income to meet their basic needs.

Ritter Center clients experience financial and housing problems due to sudden emergencies, a persistent gap between income and the basic costs of living, or acute situations such as joblessness and homelessness.

Based on our latest counts, we assist 4,000 Marin residents in need each year. These are our neighbors – perhaps a family or a senior living within walking distance from your home. Approximately two-thirds of our clients are housed, one-third are homeless or without stable housing. One-third of the services we provide benefit children in Marin County.

All financial support we receive stays here, supporting individuals and families that live here.

Ritter Center serves low- and no-income residents of Marin County including:

  • Families
  • Seniors
  • Single parents
  • People with disabilities
  • Homeless people
  • Those close to homelessness
  • The working poor
