There are many ways that people and organizations can support Ritter Center and its mission to help the less fortunate achieve independence and self-sufficiency. The following pages contain information on how to make different types of donations. Click here to make an online donation.

If you would prefer to give your credit or debit card donation over the telephone, please call Benjamin Leroi, Development Director at 415-457-8182 x106.

To send a check in the mail, please address your correspondence to Ritter Center at P.O. Box 3517, San Rafael, CA  94912.

All donations of cash (bills and coins) should be dropped off to Ritter Center at 16 Ritter St, San Rafael, CA  94901. Please take care to give cash donations to an authorized employee only.

Stock Donations
Another great way to maximize the tax benefits of supporting Ritter Center while avoiding costly capital gains taxes is to donate appreciated stock. If you would like to make a stock donation to Ritter Center, please give the following Ritter Center broker information to your financial advisor:

Planned Giving
There are a number of ways to support Ritter Center through planned giving. A few of these methods are summarized below. Please ask your financial advisor for more details.

Bequests
Any asset can be included in a bequest (through a living will or trust) to ensure that your estate will help support a cause that is consistent with your beliefs and values. Making a bequest reduces estate taxes, eliminates capital gains taxes, and benefits your favorite charity.

Vehicle Donations
Ritter Center now accepts donations of vehicles in good working condition.  We partner with Vehicle Donation for Any Charity (VDAC), an established organization specializing in vehicle sales for nonprofit agencies.  Their vast experience allows them to procure top dollar for vehicles which maximizes both the value of your donation to Ritter Center and your tax deduction.

In-kind Donations
Ritter Center accepts the following items year-round, Monday – Friday, 9am-3pm, at its location at 16 Ritter Street in San Rafael:
  • High-need food items: tuna fish, peanut butter, canned chili, Chunky-style soups, pasta, and pasta sauce
  • Toiletry items (small soaps, shampoos/conditioners, shaving cream, toothbrushes/toothpaste etc.)
  • Sleeping bags and blankets
  • Department store and grocery store gift cards
  • Paper shopping bags with handles for our food pantry

Additionally, Ritter Center operates seasonal programs that require a large number of in-kind donations from the community.
