Ritter Center Launches Exciting New Public Art Project!

Ritter Center is proud to announce that it has launched Art Houses of Marin, a new community-wide public art project to raise awareness of the increased pressures faced by homeless and low-income families here in Marin during this unprecedented economic downturn. You can read a great article published in the Marin Independent Journal about the project by clicking here. The Marin Community Foundation has generously signed on to be the event's Presenting Sponsor. Four and a half foot tall scale model "houses" have been designed by Michael Osborne, the designer of all the hearts created for the successful Hearts in San Francisco campaign. Prominent Marin artists are being selected to decorate these model houses in the most creative fashion that their imagination desires. These objects of public art will be placed in communities all across eastern Marin County on March 1, 2010 so families can find them in a treasure-hunt like atmosphere. After being displayed in the community for almost two months, the houses will be auctioned off at a Gala Event on May 1, 2010 at the exclusive hilltop estate of the Santa Family, owners of Woodland Markets, in the Kent Woodland area of Ross. Tickets are available by calling 415-457-8182 x106 or online by clicking here.
